About us

The Scripps Research Translational Institute is the national leader in translational and clinical research. As a pioneer in digital clinical trials, we use the tools of genomics and digital medicine combined with cutting-edge informatics techniques to accelerate our mission of transforming the future of individualized medicine.

In the summer of 2018, we published the first of these innovative digital trials in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The mSToPS trial was a groundbreaking, nationwide, site-less, digital medicine study, showcasing the power of implementing digital technologies in clinical research.

In 2016, we were awarded a grant by the National Institutes of Health to serve as The Participant Center for the All of Us Research Program. Through All of Us, we began collaborating with CareEvolution, a health technology company who was critical in developing and providing the necessary technology infrastructure for the Program’s direct-to-participant recruitment platform. In addition to their work with All of Us, the CareEvolution team has leveraged their MyDataHelps™ platform across a number  of studies including the Framingham Heart Study and RURAL Cohort Study.

In 2020, we partnered with CareEvolution to launch the Scripps Research Digital Trials Center to support our mission to address the world’s most pressing health concerns. With our combined expertise, technical platform, partner network, and our community of participant partners, we have a goal to accelerate critical research across the globe, starting at home in the United States, with a focus on working with communities that have traditionally been underrepresented in biomedical research.

Participants

Our most valued partners are the tens of thousands of participants who volunteer for our research studies. Without them, our work would not be possible. Some of our participants serve on our Virtual Advisory Team, a diverse group of participant advisors representing communities across the United States.

Collaborators

The Scripps Research Digital Trials Center collaborates with companies, organizations, and academic institutions from around the world, all with a shared goal of revolutionizing health research.

MEET THE COLLABORATORS

Advisors

A Digital Trials Center Virtual Advisory Team provides critical input on how research projects at the Center are conducted. Our studies benefit from the expertise and guidance of this group, which provides honest and open feedback on all aspects of our direct-to-participant studies, including program messaging, user experience, biosample collection, electronic health record retrieval and privacy/data security concerns.
